"Defense invloves three things: courage, energy, intelligence"

-Don Meyer

The Philippine National Police (PNP) directed field commanders to review their camp defense plan to ensure that no police station would be attacked by the New People’s Army (NPA).

During conflicts and peacekeeping missions, public safety officers must ensure that temporary and permanent bases are protected. In today’s asymmetric conflicts, and particularly in urban environments, a potential threat can come from anywhere. It is Mission Essential to have the capabilities to protect sensitive sites against threats. If the military camp is attacked and the troops have no operational means to locate the threat's origin, the military and civilian assets will be scared, and they will not be in psychological condition to accomplish their job.

The simulation of threat scenarios such as an external attack initiating takeover of the camp has been orchestrated, in which uniformed personnel were organized into teams and assigned to different sectors of the camp’s internal and external perimeter for its actual defense.

Camp defense can provide protection for individuals, groups, and communities from external threats like terrorist groups and criminal gangs. Camp control can be tied to cultural, historical, and social identities and can help to maintain a sense of community and belonging.

Camp defense can help establish a sense of security and stability within a given area, which can be important for social, economic, and political development.

Overall, camp defense is important for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of individuals and communities, as well as for the effective management and use of resources within a given area.
