INVESTIGATION

       Criminal Investigation is a multi-faceted, problem-solving challenge. Criminal Investigation is not just a set of task skills, it is equally a set of thinking skills. To become an effective investigator, these skills need to be consciously understood and developed to the point where they are deliberately engaged to work through the problem-solving process that is criminal investigation. 

 

        The duties and functions of the Investigation Section of the PNP is to direct and supervise the investigation of crimes and offenses in violation of the laws of the land. It is also concerned with the formulation of plans and policies to enhance the investigation capabilities of Police officers in order to promote effective and efficient service. It maintains, collect and process Crime Statistics for reference and act as liason with foreign counterparts on matters of mutual interest. Propose and support enactment of laws for the successful investigation and prosecution of crimes.

 

         As future law enforcers, we should be aware about the specific tasks and functions of different units of the PNP specially Investigation Section. In order to prevent crimes, we should also be able to solve crimes.
