"Explain your anger instead of expressing it, and you will open the door to solutions instead of arguments". -Ruth Ghatourey

The attitude and conduct of the police toward the community they serve is reffered to as "Police Community Relations". The community's reaction may be favorable or unfavorable. It is true that strained ties between the public and the police can breed animosity, cynicism, and dread. On the other side, the best strategy to defeat crime is to develop a relationship of trust and open communication with the community. Police officers accomplish this by putting community policing strategies into practice.

One of the fundamental keys to successful law enforcement is good police-community relations, or the relationship between the police and the communities they serve. Good police-community relations are imperative for developing trust between police and citizens. Without this trust, police work becomes much less effective. Even if the police officers are preventing crime, the people may not feel safe because there is no trust.

The effectiveness of law enforcement is often determined by how well law enforcement officers interact with the communities they serve. Learn about police-community relations to understand its importance and comparisons. Review the concepts of transparency, priorities, and accountability, and understand how these affect police-community relations.

As cadets, we are indoctrinated to give respect to each other; through these, we can be able to maintain good relationships among our fellow cadets, just as the police officers are to the community.
